VINTAGE AMERICAN FOLK ART REDWARE POTTERY PLATE

Sale price$425.00

This vintage American Folk Art Redware Plate features a hand painted horseman carrying a raised saber, rendered in bold yellow, green, and black glazes with the inscription “Light Dragoon” below. Decorative redware pottery flourished in America during the 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly in Pennsylvania and the Mid Atlantic, where potters combined utilitarian earthenware traditions with spirited folk motifs drawn from military, patriotic, and equestrian imagery. Crafted from glazed earthenware with slip painted decoration, the plate reflects the enduring influence of early American folk ceramics and historic cavalry iconography.
