This elegant American Federal mirror with Folk Art on Glass, features a finely detailed reverse-painted glass panel depicting a theatrical scene of a woman reaching toward a child beneath draped curtains, a motif inspired by the neoclassical and sentimental imagery popular in the early 19th century. Crafted in giltwood with gesso decoration, mirrors of this type were produced in American workshops between approximately 1800 and 1830, where reverse-painted glass panels served as both decoration and storytelling devices.
