AESTHETIC MOVEMENT POLYCHROME TEA TABLE, ATTRIBUTED TO A BELGIAN WORKSHOP
An exceptional Aesthetic Movement tea table, attributed to a Belgian workshop, circa 1890–1910. Its richly painted top depicts two kneeling figures raising teacups across a small tea service, framed by an elaborate geometric border and the inscription: “A Merry Cup of Amber Tea, To Thee We Sing on Bended Knee.”
The striking polychrome decoration combines warm amber, coral, black and gold tones with intricate incised ornament. An ebonized architectural base with curved supports, decorative brackets and a lower shelf completes the design.
